What is WebDav?

Warning: This first paragraph is "Geek Speak"
"Web Folders" is what Microsoft calls its WebDav support, which is built into modern Windows operating systems. WebDav is an open Internet standard that allows clients on your PC to access files and folders on a server in much the same way as on the desktop, while actually residing on a remote server accessed via the Web.

In other words, ALL students will be able to save to a server over the Internet. Ultimately, this will allow a student to save/open/edit any computer file (Word document, Power Point presentation, etc.) from any computer with Internet access, including from home!

This will replace the old "F Drive" for computer class students as a way of storing files. This will also provide a brand new opportunity for ALL students to be able to save a file from any school laptop, desktop, etc. By using WebDav, floppy disks failing and laptop's losing power will no longer prevent a student from gaining access to their files.

Policies

• Student accounts are limited in size

• Non-school related files prohibited

• No MP3's can be saved

• Accounts will be cleared during the summer

• Students are responsible for the content of their accounts, and the privacy of their passwords.
