The Brumback Library was established as the first county library in the United States. The main branch resides in Van Wert, but there are other branches in Convoy, Willshire, Ohio City, Wren, and Middle Point. The library was built from funds provided by John Sanford Brumback. Upon his death, the sum of his estate was left to cover funds for both books and maintenance of the building. Since its opening in 1899 the building has undergone two renovations, one which provided a Children's library in the basement of the facility. Located at 215 W. Main St, the building provides for a relaxing environment and a quiet place for students to study or read. Along with the wide range of book selection Brumback also provides internet access.
