This Friday (April 25), both the boys baseball and the girls softball teams will be participating in two much anticipated WBL match-ups. Both teams will be competing against two very strong state ranked Defiance programs.

    The boys baseball team is facing the leaders of the WBL. The cougars are currently at 3-2 on the season and 5-9 overall. This places them at fourth in t he WBL. Defiance tops the WBL with an undefeated league record of 5-0 and an overall record of 13-1. The bulldogs are also ranked seventh in state.  On the mound for the cougars will be Eric Miller. Dace Kime is who the cougars are expecting to bat against. Just like all WBL matches it will be a tough game, but one that the cougars have high hopes for.  

      Van Wert Lady Cougar softball team is also facing a tough Defiance squad this weekend.  The bulldogs are currently ranked fourth in the league, tied with Elida. They narrowly etch out the cougars who are currently ranked sixth. Just as the baseball team, the girls softball is also ranked eighth in state. Brittany Bolenbaugh will be taking the mound in this crucial WBL match-up. The cougars are hoping to take another win, against a very strong WBL and state contender.
