Van Wert HS, a Renaissance School since 1992.
Philosophy
The Renaissance philosophy is simple. It is a business
partnership with local businesses and the community to help create a
rebirth in academic achievement. It is based on the principle that
"what gets rewarded, gets accomplished." Our Van Wert program is
based on the 3 A's: excellence in Academics, Attitude, and
Attendance. About Renaissance
Jostens Renaissance, a value-added service of Jostens
Inc., helps schools begin their journey of
teaching and learning excellence. As a partner with the educational community,
the vision is to create
a "renaissance" in schools across the country where academic excellence, continuous improvement and
citizenship are promoted and recognized.
Renaissance is a process that empowers students, educators, administrators, parents, businesses
and community organizations to work together to encourage student achievement, celebrate success
and increase community involvement in our schools.
America's leading schools use Jostens Renaissance to motivate and inspire higher student
achievement and build collaboration with businesses and parents. Implementing the Renaissance
process builds an expectation of success and more than ever helps students reach their full
potential.
Renaissance Finances
Support for Renaissance comes from monetary donations from
individuals and businesses as well as businesses offering discounts to
student cardholders. A list of Renaissance contributors can be
viewed here. Teachers Who Made a
Difference
In May, a number of top seniors are given the opportunity
to invite a teacher who made a difference in his/her life to go to a
special luncheon sponsored by Renaissance. The students present the
selected teacher an invitation and a flower one week before the lunch.
This event recognizes excellent scholars and excellent teachers. Agendas
Every student at VWHS is issued a student agenda, which
aid the student in keeping track of homework and important dates. These
agendas are paid for entirely with Renaissance funds.
