It's springtime, which in a lot of teens minds means, PROM TIME! Prom is a time of year to get all dressed up, take pictures, eat at fancy restaurants, and of course, dance. Prom is an event at Van Wert High School that many juniors and seniors look forward to throughout the year. This year, the prom theme is 'The Golden Age', where juniors will be putting together a whole new world for the seniors to enjoy. This year could be considered one of the most difficult years in building prom for two main reasons: One is that there is a new fire code that the high school must abide by, which limits what juniors can decorate with. Another reason is that the week before prom is the only week available for juniors to decorate inside the gym, due to the Ohio Achievement Tests that the fifth graders took April 21-25. Although these two factors have angered many juniors, they continue to soldier on and build the prom to the best of their abilities for the seniors.

Prom will be held at the Goedde Building on May 10, from 8:00-11:30 P.M.. This event is only for juniors and seniors from Van Wert, unless approved by the Van Wert High School principal, Mr. Clifton. After-prom is being held at Olympic Lanes directly after prom.

What do you think is the most difficult challenge about building prom?
"Definitely the new fire codes that were implemented. We can't use things like spray paint or cardboard. So that makes everything a little more difficult." -Craig T.
