National Novel Writing Month

Everyone has some dream in life. Some want to build, some want to paint, and some want to write. Of course, life gets in the way, and most dreams are never reached. Yet again, some people reach their dreams during life. An adventurous few take their dreams on as a challenge, and face the obstacles of life along with the dream.
Dream of writing a novel? Want a challenge? Take on the NaNoWriMo!

Every November since 1999, some people have been challenging themselves by taking on the NaNoWriMo, a task of writing a novel in 30 days. There is no chance for editing, reviews, rewrites, and no starting over. This is a growing trend, as the number of participants has shot up from 21 in 1999 to 79,813 participants in the 2006 event.
The goal is to write a 50,000 word, 175-page novel within the month of November. Some of the completed entries have been sent to publishers and made into published books. No one reads the words entered when one submits a novel; the words are counted by the NaNoWriMo computer systems. This is not a contest against other people, but a test of yourself, and the reward is the knowledge that you have written a novel, and bragging rights with your friends.
