National Honor Society

National Honor Society is a club for Juniors and Seniors at VWHS. Students are first eligible their junior year and are chosen and evaluated by a group of faculty based on the students Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service. A GPA of 3.4 is the minimum that is to be considered. After being notified, students who wish to become NHS members must fill out an information sheet.  The sheet includes questions like: why he/she would be an asset to the club; why he/she should be chosen based on scholarship, leadership, and character. Examples of service done throughout the community also appear on the form. Once accepted into National Honor Society members are required to maintain a good character and a violation of the Serious Misconduct Code, established at Van Wert High School, may result in an immediate dismissal from the club.
