Q: I've added my listing, why doesn't it show up?

A: When you submit your listing, it is automatically added to the alumni database.  But, it still will not be published until Mr. Herman checks to make sure the record is in order.  You can tell the number of listings waiting to be published by looking at the top of the Alumni main page.  Mr. Herman will check the database every couple of days. He does not check during breaks from school however.  We ask that you be patient.

If after you have added yourself and see that the number of records waiting to be published is 0, your listing has been denied.  Please e-mail us directly, or add yourself again.

Q:  I see that people can add their occupation, address, and much more...but I only see their name, e-mail, and location?  Where is the rest of the info?

A: No matter how you have chosen to view alumni (by year, by decade, or by searching), you will notice that their name is a hyperlink.  Click on any person's name you wish, and you will be taken to their details page.  The details page will show much more information, depending on what was submitted by that individual.  Remember, many items are optional, so that person might not have filled out certain fields.

Q: How can I edit (or delete) my listing?

A: When you added yourself, you created a password.  If you do not remember what that password is e-mail us.

Go to your graduation year (or decade or search). You must click on your name, so that you are at your details page.  At the bottom of the details page, you can enter your password.  Now you have the opportunity to change or delete your listing, and changes will take place immediately.

Q: When searching, I type in "Van Wert, Ohio" and nothing shows up.  What gives?

A: This search tool is limited to searching under one field only.  If you type both "Van Wert" and "Ohio", there is not one field value that equals both.  This is because "Van Wert" is a city, and "Ohio" is a state, two separate fields.  If you wish to find someone from a particular city, please type the city only, and omit the state.

Q: Why can I only search by last name, and not first and last?

A: In terms of searching for names, right now we only permit searching for last names.  This is to avoid confusion, because we can only search by one field.  First names and last names are two separate fields.  So when you type in "Clifton", Bill Clifton's name will be returned.  This is because there is a last name of Clifton in the database.  But if you type in "Bill Clifton", there is no single field that equals both, so you get no results to your search.

Q: I added myself years ago.  What happened to my listing?

A: In May of 2002, we changed over to a database-driven version of keeping track of alumni.  This is more efficient, quicker, and more powerful than the way it was done before.  We did keep the old alumni page, and it can be accessed here, as well as on the side bar under "Old E-mail list".  It will remain there, unchanged, indefinately.
