Medical Health Technology is a year long course offered
for students in grades 10, 11, and 12. There are two MHT classes
at VWHS, both MHT I and MHT II are taught by Mrs. Howell. In MHT
I, students are provided the opportunity to prepare for an area in the
health fields. Students must attend practices and events
throughout the school year in addition to their course work. MHT
II provides more specific study, whereas MHT I gives students a broader
view of the health fields. MHT II students will gain experience in
using their knowledge while working as student trainers for our school.
In class the MHT students will learn the anatomy of the body, things
that may lead to an injury, ways to prevent injuries, and how to tape
ankles and wrists. The student's responsibilities will include
training, training room duties, assisting in school rehabilitations and
serving as a mentor for MHT I students.
