Economics is a course in the study of basic economic concepts and principles stressing the relationship of supply, demand, and freeenterprise system. Other areas that are covered are economicsas a social science; behavior of business firms with respect to competition and market conditions; the role of labor and government; role of financial institutions; national income
accounting and statistics; comparative economic systems and
international trade; and fundamental economic problems facing
the world's nation. This program is sponsored in part by Junior
Achievement. This class recently has started playing the Stock Market Game. Students use real internet research and news updates, making the simulation an even better mirror of the real marketplace. While the competitive game play creates student excitement, the educational experience delivers the biggest impact. Later in the year, the class will take a trip to Central Mutual Insurance to take a tour around the building and learn about it's history and what goes on there everyday.
