New High School Feelings

With Thanksgiving around the corner, not very many high school students and teachers are thinking about turkey and stuffing. Their minds are what is to come after the holiday: the move to the brand new High school/Middle school complex. This multi-million dollar investment is going to change the way that the students learn and the teachers teach.

The new building consists of four major wings: the athletic complex, the high school wing, the middle school wing, and the performing arts center. Everything in the school is new and technologically advanced, like the smart boards in every classroom, new lockers, new desks, and much more.

Students have been given the opportunity to visit the new school during their first half of class, approximately 2nd period through the end of lunch (9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.). Students will be able to view the new gym, the commons area (cafeteria), and the new class rooms. These classes are fully equipped with new desks, new seats, plenty of storage room, built in Smart boards, motion activated lights, DVD-VHS combo viewing, and more.

The orientation times allow students to learn their new high school before they actually move in. While they do have time to learn, with such a large school, it will still be rather difficult to learn in only one morning session. The students seem to have mixed feelings about the move to the new school. Click here if you would like to view the orientation pictures of the High School/Middle School.

Sophomore Alice B. says she is very excited about the move, but she will miss the open lunches. She thinks it is useful to have the time to get everything she needs organized. Freshman Lauren R. will also miss the open lunches, but the school will be cool. She thinks it will be weird because to her it will feel like they are visiting a school, not attending it.
Senior Zack A. is very excited about the move, but feels it unnecessary to move during the year. He thinks that they should wait until after the year is over before they move, because it is confusing for everyone. Junior Tony C. is incredibly excited to move to the new school. He says "I want to move to the.....Huge, nice building". He especially can't wait for the new desks and chairs, with gum-less bottoms.

These are only a few of the many comments received about moving to the new school. If you would like more information on the new school, click here for the new school information page.
