From records to cassettes to CDs, media has made some great strides.  Of course, media is useless without some kind of device to play it on.  This year, portable media players have been one of the most popular gadgets to own. 

There are countless makes and models, available at a wide assortment of memory storage.  From 256MB to 80GB and beyond, options are available for anyone who just wants a favorite playlist, or wants to carry an entire collection of movies.

Some media players have features that others don't.  For instance, you can find a simple MP3 player at Big Lots for $20 with some decent memory.  However, you can't watch movies or clips, and internet access is out of the question too.  Some of the more pricier models will combine everything you could ever carry in your pockets into one device, such as the ITouch.

Apple's iPod Touch was released September 5, 2007. The iPod touch adds the graphical user interfaces Cover Flow and Multi-Touch to the iPod line and is available with 8, 16 or 32 GB of flash memory.  The device also comes equipped with Safari, Apple's own web browser.

Regardless of size or features, it'll be a tough task finding a student who doesn't have some sort of portable media player.  Some cell phones are now equipped with MP3 players as well.  Music is undeniably a passion of our generation, and now we will always have our favorites with us.
