Art I
This class is offered for all students in high school. During the
first semester the language of the visual art and drawing is emphasized.
During second semester the emphasis is based on understanding some
materials and techniques of printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, and
painting.
Art II
This class is offered for sophomores, juniors, and seniors after they
have taken Art I. This class covers more advanced techniques in
cartooning, portraits, drawing, calligraphy, sculpture, ceramics, and
watercolors. Work is prepared for exhibition.
Art III & IV
This class is offered for juniors and seniors after they have completed
Art I and II with a "B" average. Students meet together with
cartooning-caricatures, advanced drawing, advanced sculpture, advanced
ceramics throwing on the potters wheel, advanced painting, and portfolio
and resume preparation. Work is prepared for exhibition.
Ceramics I
This class is offered for freshman through seniors and is designed for
the non art majors who like to work with their hands. The emphasis
is on self-development. Good craftsmanship is stressed.
Students will learn various hand building techniques. Students
must follow directions, use problem solving techniques, and learn how to
make patterns for a design.
Ceramics II
This class is offered for freshman through seniors, however one must
have a Ceramics I background. This course centers on learning the
advanced techniques of clay construction and how to use it. The
area of concentration will be learning methods of constructing pots on
the potters wheel. The maximum class size is nine students.
