Graduation Information
Van
Wert High School will hold its annual Graduation Ceremony this
Sunday, June 3, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. in the high school gymnasium.
Guests are asked to park in the west parking lots next to the high
school/middle school gymnasiums. Doors will open at 1:00 p.m. and
all guests are asked to enter through either the high school or
middle school gymnasium doors.

Updates on Brian McGonagle

Brian is a 2001 graduate of VWHS. He is the son of Kevin &
Linda McGonagle and husband of Ashley McGonagle. Kevin is a
language arts teacher at VWHS and is in charge of all the TV
Production classes. On Tuesday, April 24, the McGonagle
family was informed by the United States Marine Corps that their
son, Lance Corporal Brian McGonagle suffered serious injuries while
serving for our country in Iraq. Click on the link below for updates

Van Wert Track athletes will be competing at the regional track meet
held in Lexington, Ohio. This meet is the second step towards competing
at the state meet.

Folding@Home
By: Travis Valentine & Anthony McMichael Imagine a situation where you could help find a cure for cancer,
without spending money, or getting a degree in healthcare studies?
Now you can, thanks to Folding@Home. Folding@Home is a research site
that uses distributed computing to calculate protein folding, the
underlying cause of cancer growth. By installing a program from the
site onto your computers, your unused processing power is used by
Stanford University to research the protein folds. Put simply, your
computer helps to find the cure for cancer! Click

Cougar Pride 5K Race

drought will end Saturday, June 9th, 2007. This day should be full of fun, and
provide some stiff competition for those wanting to participate in a
competitive, yet local atmosphere. Justin Dickman, a 2006 VWHS graduate, will be
race director for The
Central & Purmort Brothers Insurance
Cougar Pride 5K Race & 1 mile fun run/walk. The courses will start and
finish at the new high school (10708 St. Rt. 118) and involve the surrounding

you heard the word weightlifting. The term probably
brought to mind images of curling dumbbells, bench
pressing, and pumping iron until your veins popped out.
But take a little time to flip through our workouts and
you'll realize that there are all kinds of ways to lift
weights, for any number of end goals.

Foreign Exchange Students Influence Tennis Team

these upcoming weeks. But the focus of the Tennis team is going to
Sectionals Thursday, May 10. The real heart of the Tennis team, however,
is not on anyone from here. They are from a whole different country.

County Track Meet. The boys won with a total of 89 points,
while the girls won with 83.5 points. The trophy remains in Van

Beta Convention
By: Callie Gear & Carly Fortman On April 19 & 20, the Van Wert High School Beta Club traveled to
Columbus for the State Beta Convention. The Club participated in
many activities including scholastic bowl and academic tests.

VWHS Presents Meet Me In St. Louis
By: Phil Yackee & Katie Dickinson This year's spring play is Meet Me in St. Louis. The show
will be presented on Thursday (4/19), Friday (4/20) and Saturday (4/21). It will
start at 7:30 pm each evening in the Niswonger Performing Arts Center.
Van Wert High School's production of MeetMe in St. Louis, by Christopher Sergel, promises to provide an evening of

Red Cross Blood Drive
By: Callie Gear Van Wert High School's annual Blood Drive will take place on
Friday, April 13. Students can sign out of their classes to take
part in giving back to their community. The American Red Cross has a
goal of 80 units for this day. The Bloodmobile has also said that
the public is welcome to come and participate in the Blood Drive.

Van Wert stand Team
By: Katie Dickinson & Travis Valentine This Ohio organization against the usage of tobacco products
gives teens the courage to STAND up and believe in themselves. Teens
ranging from 12 to 24 can be involved in this organization.
This group provides the truth about the usage of tobacco. The Van
Wert stand Team is comprised of teens from Van Wert, Paulding, and
Mercer Counties. Anyone can become involved in this organization.
