It's October again and with the fall season comes Major League Baseball's most exciting month. Here already is the final days of the season, the coveted World Series.

Already the games have begun, leaving the starting gate behind, and everyone is fighting for the prize. After three games, it is the St. Louis Cardinals ahead by one game over the Detroit Tigers, with the score being 2-1. The fourth game will be on tonight, October 25, and the tensions are high.

One of the strong points for the Cardinals is pitcher and Cy Young award winner Chris Carpenter. In game three he missed a complete shut out by three hits, and adding this game to the list of games in the Cardinals world series history that had three or less hits. There were two in 1931, two in 1944, one in 1967, and this years game three. Chris has a mean right arm that throws the ball at speeds of up to and past 100 MPH! He is one of only two Cardinals who have ever won the Cy Young award. The other Cardinal to win the award was Bob Gibson, from 1968.

On the other end of the bat, The Tigers are looking pretty strong for the given standards. The shock to me personally is Placido Polanco. He went into the World Series with a .529 batting average, and is currently hitless after 10 at bats. Two other starters for the Tigers also have poor batting in the World Series. Curtis Granderson (CF) (0-for-13) and Ivan Rodriguez (C) (0-for 10 in World Series, 0-for-22 in the postseason). Though these are a few minor set-backs, I can see the Tigers getting up from their "catnap" and crushing the Cardinals for a Detroit victory.

All-in-all, both teams are set up for a rough road to finish the series. Who do you think will win the World Series? Personally I want to see the Tigers pull out a victory, but both teams are strong. Who knows? Will the Redbirds tame the Big Cats, or will the Big Cats devour their prey?
