The Valentines day

History

Every February 14th, all over the world we celebrate Valentine's day. We exchange gifts to our love ones such as flowers, candy etc, all in the name of St. Valentine. As we know today Valentine's day contains ancient Roman and Christian tradition.

According to legend Valentine sent his very first greeting himself, while he was in prison. It was believed that he fell in love with a young girl. He was visited by this girl during in confinement. Before his death he sent a letter to this young girl and at the end of the letter it was singed  saying  "from your Valentine", an expression that is still used today. Some people say this day was celebrated because of his death or burial that occurred during the 270 A.D.
