4th Place - Freshmen
The Goodwill Games is a day set aside from academic learning for
students to relax, have fun, and show off some skill. The day is a reward
earned by the students for their response to the Food Drive last November.
Mrs. Philpot, one of the teachers involved with the Goodwill Games, had this
to say: "The goal of the Goodwill Games is to get as many students involved in a
wide variety of activities. It was earned by the students, and is there
for them to enjoy. Participation is what makes the Games a success.
The Goodwill Games are made possible largely in part by the Student Council.
They were responsible for the organization of the Food Drive last fall, and
involved themselves to make it such a triumph. They students who hold
seats on the council host the games, and dedicate themselves to the overall
function and accomplishment. A special thanks goes to the Student Council,
and also the faculty at Van Wert High School, who set aside their lesson plans
and help make the Goodwill Games the sensation that it is.
