Van Wert High School's annual Blood Drive will take place on Friday 13. Students can sign out of their classes to take part in giving back to their community. The American Red Cross has a goal of 80 units for this day. In order for this to happen, they need about 120 donors, currently only 88 students are signed up. The Blood Mobile has also said that the public is welcome to come and participate in the Blood Drive. The doors open around 7:30 for parents and others to come. Student Council Members will help during this event and serve the donors refreshments after they give blood. By donating one pint of blood, students can save three lives.

Criteria For Donating Blood:
1.Good Health
2. At least 17 years old.
3. Weigh at least 110 lbs.
4. Have not donated blood in the last 56 days.

What students should do before they give blood:
1. Get plenty of rest
2. Drink a lot of fluids throughout the entire week.
3. Eat healthy meals the night before the the morning of.
4. Make sure you bring a picture ID and a list of any prescriptions you may be on with you.

What students should do after they give blood:
1. Get a good nights rest the night of.
2. Take it easy at athletic practices.
3. Continue to drink plenty of fluids to refill your body's fluid supply.
4. Feel good about saving three people's lives!
