The Cougar's Roar is back, and better than ever!  Mr. Chris Covey revived the award-winning publication during the 2001-2002 school year.  You can pick up a copy of Van Wert High School's official newspaper for 50 cents.

Several members of The Cougar’s Roar staff attended the annual Media Day at the University of Toledo.  Among the highlights of the trip was the awards ceremony which featured a keynote speaker and the results of a competition among over 50 schools in attendance.  In its category, The Cougar’s Roar faired very well, taking home 11 awards.  The paper itself was awarded 2^nd place for “Best front page and overall newspaper”.  

Several “Roar” staff members also took home awards for stories and pictures that had been in issues this year:

• Honorable Mention awards went to: Cayla Ralston, Travis Thomas, Matt Wilhelm, Craig Leon.  

• Third place awards went to: Cayla Ralston.  

• Second place awards went to:  Jordan Galloway, Logan Sheehan, Ryan Holliday, Jane Harvey. 

• First place awards went to Ryan Holliday.  

Congratulations go out to The Cougars Roar for their great success in this, their first year of production!
